Bulldog is the General Manager of Irie Radio, Inc. as well as the creator and host of The Rude Awakening Show. He has no prior experience of management or radio broadcasting and it is obvious to both his listeners and staff. He obtained the management position when he beat station owner, Leighton Moore, in a game of backgammon.
Prior to moving to the Eastern Shore, Bulldog lived in Chicago, St. Maarten, Houston, Guantanamo Bay and 18 months at the Miami Correctional Center. He has traveled extensively and once took a vow of celibacy for several hours while touring with the Benedictine Monk Choir throughout Korea. He has been to all seven continents and currently has a P.O. Box address in Antarctica where he spends time during the summer months.
Bulldog is a collector of Precious Moments figurines, WWII shoelaces, Yankee Doodle candles and broken Christmas ornaments. He spends most weekends minding his booth at local flea markets and is a regular at Amish festivals. He likes roller coasters, long walks on the beach, banjo music and watching infomercials.
As a newlywed Coach is learning the ropes of balancing home and work. Most at the station still argue as to how he landed such a catch as his wife. When he’s not having fun on the morning show you can find him in Production taking credit for all of Magellan’s work. What you should know is that it was work intended for Coach that he repeatedly claims to “delegate” quite liberally to his coworkers.
He enjoys Italian & Mexican as culinary favorites – mostly any pasta with sauce and tacos (or sometimes nachos).
He has never been skydiving (and never will), nor has he ever been to a Medieval Times.
What’s his vice? Seacrets Spiced Rum and a calming game of Blackjack.
Coach is a Cancer and truly does like walks on the beach.
Born Alphonse Renuccaridi, like many immigrants Al came to America in the steerage compartment of a passenger ship. As an infant he arrived wrapped in a blanket in a big iron cooking pot. His family settled in the wooded hills of Western Pennsylvania. Al was the youngest and was often on his own….years later he told his biographer that he resented his father for being too humble: “My father was a sucker, he was a working man who blew it.” He eventually changed his name to an Americanized version Al Reno (also had Irish overtones to his choice).
He dropped out of school in the fifth grade and had two arrests shortly thereafter, he served ten months for illegal possession of a pistol…this is his only stint in jail. In his late teens, Al went back to school but made the poor choice of attending a small Catholic school near Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Although he excelled academically he was eventually urged to seek his academic and social pursuits elsewhere. Apparently, Al had a penchant for mischief and a familiarity of the daughters of the faculty at the institution. He was also paying for his tuition by giving the underclassmen (and locals) lucrative predictions of who was going to win each week’s football matchups. Level of competition did not matter. Al gave out clear winners from the NFL down to the local high school games. While in school, he was evaluated by a guidance counselor, who stated that Al was an “aggressive, egotistical, antisocial type,” who possessed “bright intelligence.” In short, he is the prototypical wise guy: a product of his environment, willing to break the rules for personal gain and intelligent enough to organize his crimes.
Eventually, Al followed his dreams (and the money) to the Las Vegas where he made it big. After years of successfully handicapping games out West, Al has since retired to the eastern shore of Maryland.

I have been in marketing for many years and the restaurant industry. I hold two technology patents that I am currently pursuing, written a children’s book and am moving towards getting it published. I am really impressed how music smart the listeners are on 98.1. I make the best corn beef you will find anywhere, so I am told.

Born a member of the Nanticoke Indian tribe, DJ Wood has deep ties to the Eastern Shore. Raised by a pack of red foxes initially, his mother finally lured him back into the house in 1983 by playing the funky sounds of Frankie Smith’s Double Dutch Bus on `45. After the subsequent discovery of the Oak Ridge Boys’ Elvira in the same pile of records, a deep love for all types of music was instilled within the young lad.
Moving ahead, DJ Wood left to go to college outside New York City, where his now-formidable music collection and affinity for electronic toys led him to deejaying campus events and parties. After graduation, he tried the shirt-and-tie 9 to 5 thing for two years — hating every minute of it. Missing the beach, he returned, at first running a restaurant. He developed a business plan and started his own multimedia company in 2006, doing graphic design, comic book coloring, signmaking and deejaying. Since then, he hasn’t looked back — and loves that his work is considered most people’s play. Being offered a spot to host Island Time on Ocean 98 in 2013 has been a fantastic opportunity for DJ Wood to learn a new medium in which to spread the word of music to fans everywhere.

Towards the end of U.S. Government Top Secret Project MKUltra, test subject “Schwab”, an orphan born in captivity, a byproduct of low atmosphere anti-gravity breeding, escaped his state sponsored cell at Guantanamo Bay. Living for years on the shores of an unnamed Caribbean Island, surviving on meals of shellfish and the occasional wild Boar, Schwab desperately wanted reach the U.S.A., realize his birthright and live the American dream. After collecting enough discarded plastic soda bottles and six pack holders he was able to build a raft and sail to Florida, where, by chance he came ashore on Gloria Estefan’s beach-side mansion. She took pity on the Schwab and set him up as a roadie for the Keytar player in the Miami Sound Machine. Schwab toured the country for years, living among the natives and admiring each of the diverse cultures from East to West, North to South. On a chance overnight stop on the Eastern Shore, he fell in love with cold beer, steamed crabs, silver queen & drunken beach weekers; He has called the Shore home ever since.
“Life isn’t like a box of chocolates. It’s more like a jar of jalapenos. What you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.”
“Man who drive like hell, bound to get there.”
“Man who run in front of car get tired. But, man who run behind car get exhausted.”

A newer addition to Ocean 98, Cate is also the queen of celebrity gossip. She manages the increasingly popular DailyBOOM.net and takes pride in knowing who’s headed to trial and who is knocking boots with who. Being constantly on the chase for a good celebrity-related story, it’s only natural that she came across some compromising photos of Bulldog, Coach, Big Al Reno and Marla. Armed with heavy ammunition, she scored her nightly gig on the “Best of Rock”. When asked to reveal the nature of the photos, Cate simply grinned and said that she could not comment due to an agreement with the Rude Awakening Show.
A plot twist that no one saw coming was Cate’s deep understanding of that thing called “Schwabmania” and the unlikely alliance that would form because of it. Tune in to Ocean 98’s Facebook page weeknight’s beginning at 7pm for #StayingLateWithCate to join Cate and Schwab in discussing their topic of the day. And whatever else strikes them in the moment.
You can catch Cate weekday nights beginning at 7 pm and also on Friday mornings with the Bulldog and the Rude Awakening Show.
